India A recently won a Tri-Nation Series in Sri Lanka.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) is an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Although they have not yet played their first Test match, the emerging nation frequently participates in ODI and T20I cricket.

Nepal recently participated in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 hosted by India, where they grabbed everyone’s attention, especially after their first match of the tournament.

Nepal nearly pulled off a famous upset against England, losing the match by 4 runs. They played all their matches at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, and their games witnessed huge crowds and tremendous support.

CAN also organises the Nepal Premier League (NPL), which has made them a better T20-playing nation. It has increased cricket’s viewership in the region. With the fast-rising popularity of cricket in Nepal, the CAN has proposed to the BCCI to host a bilateral series in Nepal.

BCCI is seriously considering this proposal

According to a Times of India report, the BCCI is seriously considering sending the India A team to Nepal for a bilateral series. The best possible window could be the last week of July or in the first half of August.

India’s senior men’s team will also have their T20 and Test tours in July and August, so the Board is still weighing the most favourable window for the Nepal tour.

India A played a Tri-Nation A series in Sri Lanka in June, with many youngsters getting an opportunity to showcase their talents. India won the series, and many domestic performers got a platform to make their mark.

The BCCI is keen to provide such opportunities to youngsters and believes that India A matches serve as an excellent start to their international cricket careers. They wish to provide match experience and prepare the emerging talents for the big stage. This gives selectors a clearer pecking order.

This bilateral tour will not only provide a platform for India’s young players but also allow Nepal’s cricketers to play against a strong team on their home soil. This will be a huge boost for Nepal Cricket.

Furthermore, given India’s current struggles in T20Is, especially after consecutive series defeats against Ireland and England, this series against Nepal could give the selectors a few promising cricketers to include in the T20I side.

Are India A going to play a bilateral series against Nepal?

Yes, reports are suggesting a bilateral series between India and Nepal.

When will the bilateral series between India A and Nepal be played?

The BCCI is discussing about the best possible window for the bilateral series between Nepal and India, and the last week of July or the first week of August could emerge as the most favourable period.
