The one-off Test between India and Afghanistan will commence on June 6.

After an exciting long Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, India are set to return to action. The Shubman Gill-led side will be back in action as they will be locking horns in a one-off Test against Afghanistan. The match will begin from June 6 in New Chandigarh, and is expected to provide the team management with an opportunity to assess combinations and give players valuable game time in the longest format.

Several members of the Indian squad are currently involved in IPL 2026, with the tournament just two games away from getting concluded. As a result, attention has gradually started turning towards the national team’s preparations and the schedule leading into the Afghanistan Test.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to begin assembling players shortly after the completion of their franchise commitments. Reports over the past few days have suggested that the team management has already communicated their plans regarding the build-up to the match.
