T20 cricket has shifted the landscape of world cricket entirely, so much that players can now make financially fulfilling careers by playing only the shortest format of the game.

India have been a dominant force in T20Is. They have won two T20 World Cups, finished as runners-up once and semi-finalists twice.

Indian players have been a force to reckon with in T20Is, especially their batters who have won them series after series. Indian batters have bagged a spate of Man of the Series awards, while a couple of their pacers haven’t been too far behind either.

In this article, we will look at the Indian players who have won the most Player of the Series awards in T20I cricket.

4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 3

With three awards, among Indians, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has bagged the joint third-most Player of the Series awards in T20Is. Currently, he finds himself out of the Indian T20I team, but Bhuvneshwar had a successful decade-long T20I career.

In 87 T20Is, he picked up 90 wickets and maintained a tidy economy of 6.96. His last Player of the Series award in T20Is was in June 2022 in a home series against South Africa.

3. Jasprit Bumrah – 3

Hailed as the best fast bowler in the world by most, Jasprit Bumrah stepped up during the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to deliver match-winning performances after performances throughout the tournament. For taking 15 wickets at an economy of only 4.17, Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Tournament.

This was his third Player of the Series/Tournament award in T20Is, joint third-most with Bhuvneshwar among Indian players. Bumrah has snapped 89 wickets in 70 T20Is.

2. Suryakumar Yadav – 5

India’s newest T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has the joint second-most Player of the Series awards in T20I cricket. This feat of Suryakumar’s is highly impressive as he has played in only 20 T20I series and won the Player of the Series award in five of them.

1. Virat Kohli – 7

As expected, leading this list is former India captain Virat Kohli, who earned seven Player of the Series awards in his 15-year T20I cricket, during which he featured in 46 series. He won two of these awards at the T20 World Cups in 2014 and 2016.

Kohli retired this year after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy, where he was the Man of the Match in the final.
