Indian fast bowler has signed up to play for Sussex in the English county cricket.

The Asia Cup 2023, which will see six teams and 13 matches, will begin on August 30 and will end on September 17. This tournament will be the main World Cup preparatory event for the teams involved. Therefore, they are likely to test out all the combinations and provide sufficient match time for all the players before heading into the ODI World Cup, which will take place in India.

As the home World Cup is approaching, the Indian team will be keen to make an impact in the Asia Cup as well. India, who are six-time Champions, could not make it to the final in the 2022 edition and will look to pull things back this time.

Ahead of the tournament, the team is likely to miss one of their pacers due to his stint with Sussex in the County Championships.

Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat will be involved with the Sussex team for the first three matches of the upcoming England County Championships. Sussex Cricket, on Thursday, announced that they have signed Indian International and he will be available for the matches against Durham, Leicestershire and Derbyshire.

Unadkat, who has represented India on 22 occasions, is doubtful for the Indian team as the dates of the County Championship matches clash with the Asia Cup and the home World Cup.

Unadkat will play three matches for Sussex against Durham, Leicestershire, and Derbyshire.

Sussex vs Durham – 3-6 September

Sussex vs Leicestershire – 10-13 September

Sussex vs Derbyshire – 19-22 September

Cheteshwar Pujara represents Sussex in England County Championships

Notably, Cheteshwar Pujara also represents Sussex in the England County Championships. For the past two seasons, he has been their leading run-scorer as well.

Talking about joining Sussex, Unadkat said that he is keen to contribute and win matches for the team. “I hope to add to the laurels that my dear friend & team-mate, Cheteshwar has been adding aplenty while representing Sussex for the last couple of seasons, and more importantly helping the team win games. I am looking forward to joining everyone at Sussex,” Unadkat said.

Sussex, who are hoping for a promotion this season, will face Durham in their first match of the County Championships on 3rd September.
