India lost their last 6 wickets in just 11 balls and finished their innings with a lead of 98 runs.

It was a day to remember for cricket fans at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town as bowlers produced magical performances out of nowhere on a dry surface. The day started with Mohammed Siraj’s six-wicket spell in the first session and then India too faced problems against South Africa when they came into bat in the first innings. India ended their innings with 153 runs and a lead of 98 runs.

For the first time in the history of cricket, a team lost their 6 wickets without adding any run. All these 6 wickets fell in a span of just 11 balls. South African pacers Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada scripted one of the greatest comebacks in the history of the game. Social media went crazy over India’s collapse at Newlands Stadium in Cape Town.

From 153/4 to 153 all-out

Team India were going strong in the first innings and got a lead of almost 100 runs. Virat Kohli (46), Shubman Gill (36), and captain Rohit Sharma (39) took India above 150 and KL Rahul (8) was also looking solid. Indian fans and management were sitting comfortably on their couches hoping for a massive lead to end India’s first innings in the second test.

A twist was awaiting, Lungi Ngidi dismissed KL Rahul as the wicket-keeper-batter was caught behind the wicket and that opened the gate for wickets to follow. Ngidi dismissed all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (0) and Jasprit Bumrah (0) in the same over. Virat Kohli was next to follow when Kagiso Rabada got him caught by Aiden Markram at second slip. Virat ended up as top-scorer for India in the first innings.

Two balls after Kohli’s wicket, Mohammed Siraj (0) was run out at the non-striker’s end. This was enough to sum up the last 10 minutes of Indian innings. Rabada took no time in dismissing Prasidh Krishna (0) caught at second slip by Aiden Markram and finished India’s innings at 153 runs. Six Indian batters failed to open their account and they were dismissed without scoring any run.
