How many ODI matches will India play before ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

The schedule for Champions Trophy 2025 is yet to be announced by the ICC.

The Indian cricket team suffered a shocking ODI series loss against Sri Lanka earlier this month. This was India’s first ODI series defeat against the Lankans since 1997.

The series was heavily dominated by spinners. 43 out of 54 wickets fell to spin and India lost 27 out of 30 wickets to the Sri Lankan spinners.

This defeat was a huge jolt to the Indian team and provided them with crucial lessons in their path to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India, who were the runners-up of the World Cup 2023 and the winners of the T20 World Cup 2024, are one of the favourites for the Champions Trophy 2025.

In the draft submitted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the tournament is slated to be played from February 19 to March 9. However, since it’s highly unlikely that India will travel to Pakistan, the tournament could be played in a hybrid model with India’s matches taking place probably in the UAE or Sri Lanka.

How many ODI matches will India play before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025?

After the Sri Lanka series, India have only one ODI series of three matches left before they play the Champions Trophy 2025. India’s next ODI series is in February against England. Rohit Sharma’s team will host Jos Buttler’s side for a three-ODI series from February 6 to 12.

So, India have only three more ODIs left before they head to the Champions Trophy 2025.

In January-February 2025, India will host England for five T20Is and three ODIs. The three ODIs against the Three Lions will be played in Nagpur, Cuttack and Ahmedabad.

Pakistan won the last edition of the Champions Trophy in 2017 in England by defeating India in the final.
