ICC U19 World Cup 2024 will start from January 19 in South Africa.

ICC U19 World Cup 2024 is all set to kick off in a couple of weeks time. The mega event will start from January 19 in South Africa. A total of 16 teams will be taking part in the competition. Team India will look to defend their title in the upcoming tournament.

The finals of the tournament will be played on 11th February. Interestingly, Indian players will not be representing India only, there are a few Indian-origin players who will be playing for other countries. Here we will talk about the list of Indian origin cricketers who will play for other teams in the competition.

List of Indian origin cricketers who will take part in ICC U19 World Cup for other countries

9. Ronak Patel (Zimbabwe)

Zimbabwe have an Indian origin player named Ronak Patel in their squad for the ICC U19 World Cup 2024. The 17-year-old made his List A debut recently. Ronak is a capable spin all-rounder who can smash some big sixes when it is required, and can roll his arm over. He has played two T20s so far, but this will be his first assignment for Zimbabwe U19.

8. Romashan Soma Pillay (South Africa) :

Born in Durban, Romashan Soma Pillay will be representing South Africa in the upcoming ICC U19 World Cup 2024. He is a good all-rounder, who has already played a couple of List A games for the Rainbow Nation. Romashan is a pretty fighting character that can add value with both bat and ball.

7. Nikhil Krishna Koteeswaran (Scotland)

The 18-year-old from Scotland, Nikhil Krishna Koteeswaran, will be making his debut in the coming ICC U19 World Cup 2024. Nikhil was born to an Indian family that shifted to Scotland. The youngster started to play the game in Scotland and continues to make a big mark. There are a few Indian origin players in the senior Scotland side and Nikhil can become one of them.

Not only Nikhil Krishna Koteeswaran, there is another Indian origin cricketer that will be wearing Scottish cap in the upcoming tournament, Adi Hegde. The left-hander is a top-order batter who also bowls spin if required. Just like a number of players, his family hails from Indian but he plays the game for another nation.

5. Snehith Reddy (New Zealand) :

Players like Jeetan Patel, Ish Sodhi and Rachin Ravindra are some Indian origin players that have played for New Zealand at the highest level. And even the young Kiwi side, that will play in the coming ICC U19 World Cup 2024, have a couple of such players. The 18-year-old Snehith Reddy will be playing for Kiwi team, who is a brilliant spinner. He was born in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh and moved to New Zealand to pursue his dream, and now he is representing New Zealand at higher level.

Just like Snehith Reddy, the second Indian-origin player to represent New Zealand in the coming ICC U19 World Cup 2024 is Oliver Tewatiya. The 18-year-old was born in New Zealand and is an all-rounder. He bowls left-arm spin and can bat as a floater in the batting-order.

3. Harjas Singh (Australia) :

Just like New Zealand, there are a couple of Indian-origin players in Australian U19 team as well. Harjas Singh is one of those, who has gained popularity as a hard-hitting batter. He has already played some List A and first class matches and his record is pretty decent. He has played 7 List A matches and scored 193 runs at a strike rate of 107.82 and is a brilliant finisher for the team.

2. Harkirat Bajwa (Australia) :

Harkirat Bajwa is another Indian-origin player who will play for Australian U19 team. He is based in Melbourne, and his father is a taxi driver for a travel company. Bajwa was born in Mohali, Punjab, and also played in the U19 World Cup 2022 in West Indies for Australia. He will be an experienced campaigner for Australia in the coming tournament.

USA qualified for ICC U19 World Cup for the first time since 2010. The cricket board announced a 15-member squad with Rishi Ramesh leading the team in the upcoming tournament. The announced squad consists of three backup players. Interestingly, all the 18 members of the squad have their roots from India. Not a single player named in the USA U19 squad is from American roots. All of the players named in their squad, including the traveling reserves, are from Indian origin. There might be a possibility that they young cricketers might’ve born in the USA, but from roots, they’re all Indians.
