BCCI and PCB came to an agreement after ICC obtained Pakistan's guarantee to come to India for ODI World Cup 2023.

If reports are to be believed that the board of India and Pakistan have come to an agreement and will face off at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in the league stage of the ODI World Cup 2023.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reached an agreement recently, sources in Dainik Jagran reported.

Previously, the Pakistan board threatened to boycott the ODI World Cup and/or not play in Ahmedabad owing to the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 difficulties, in which India declined to tour Pakistan, the tournament's hosts and subsequently rejected the hybrid format presented by PCB president Najam Sethi.

Following conversations and negotiations between the BCCI and the PCB, a settlement was reached. This decision follows the BCCI's approval of the PCB's proposed hybrid Asia Cup idea.

According to the PCB's hybrid concept, the first four matches of the tournament's primary phase should be played in Lahore, Pakistan. Sri Lanka will host the following stage, which will include matches versus India and the finals.

The PCB had threatened to boycott the Asia Cup and subsequently, the ODI World Cup in India if their hybrid concept was not adopted.

To resolve these concerns, ICC officials, including Chairman Greg Barclay and CEO Geoff Allardice, came to Lahore and spoke with PCB officials in order to gain a guarantee that the Pakistan squad would travel to India for the 2023 World Cup.

Given this promise, the BCCI agreed to accept the PCB's proposed hybrid format and will hold the India-Pakistan World Cup match in Ahmedabad. This match is significant since it is the first time the two opposing nations will compete on Indian soil since 2016.

The BCCI's decision to hold this high-intensity game at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium is prompted by the expectation of a large number of international spectators traveling to India for the event. The Narendra Modi Arena, which seats up to 100,000 people, is the country's largest cricket arena.

The majority of Pakistan's World Cup matches, according to the source, will be hosted in Chennai and Hyderabad. The BCCI has already presented the ICC with the World Cup schedule, which is set to be released on Wednesday.
