India’s performance in the recent series against England and Ireland raised concerns about the side’s workload management. The Men in Blue performed better against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan; however, a bigger challenge awaits them as they will travel to New Zealand to play a total of 12 matches across formats.
India’s tour will start with five T20Is. The first game will be played on October 22, while the last T20I will take place on November 1. The five-match ODI series will then commence on November 4 at Eden Park in Auckland.
Interestingly, the 5th ODI between the New Zealand and India will end on November 15 in Mount Maunganui. Meanwhile, the opening Test match will commence only four days later on November 19, in Wellington. The team also will not have the opportunity to play a practice game against any provincial side in the meantime.
Meanwhile, there are players who would be featuring in ODIs as well as test matches, and they are unlikely to have the time to recover. As a result, the Men in Blue coaching staff is considering resting a few players in the final two games of the ODI series.
With the rest, they would have enough time to recover and prepare ahead of the ODI series. India will also be preparing for ODIs and the test matches consecutively because they want to perform well despite the heavily packed schedule.
The two-Test series will begin in Wellington from November 19 to 23, with the second match scheduled for Christchurch from November 27 to December 1. The games will be important for the Men in Blue for the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.

The reported list includes top-flight names such as Indian skipper Shubman Gill and experienced wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul.
