India became the first team to make it to Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025.
The Indian Cricket Team have booked their berth in the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. This came after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated Oman in match seven of the tournament, which took place at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Monday (15th September).
With the defeat, Oman, who have now lost both their games, were eliminated from Asia Cup 2025’s Super Four race, paving the way for India to qualify for the next round. Notably, India are at top of the points table with four points along with a superior Net Run Rate.
The UAE and Oman came into the game on the back of thrashing losses in their last games. A win was a must for either side, and the home side came up with a staggering effort to register a big win and keep their hopes alive to qualify for the Super Four stage of the tournament.
After being asked to bat first, the UAE posted a big total of 172 with skipper Muhammad Waseem leading from the front. The right-hander slammed 69 runs, and along with his opening partner Alishan Sharafu, who hit 51, scored 88 runs for the opening stand to set the platform for the team to score a big total.
Muhammad Zohaib (21) and Harshit Kaushik (19*) finished the innings on a high as they posted a total of 172. With the ball then, they were all over the Oman batters and didn’t let them settle at all. They kept taking wickets at regular intervals and asserted their authority over the game right at the start of the second innings.
Junaid Siddique shone with the ball as he picked four wickets, helping his team bundle out Oman for 130 to win the game by 42 runs. This means that their clash with Pakistan will now be a virtual knockout as both sides have one win each from two games.
