India will play Sri Lanka in two-match Test series in August.
India Cricket Team ended the UK tour with only one win after playing ten white-ball matches. They lost the T20I series in Ireland, followed by T20I and ODI series defeats in England.
Now, India will have some important away tours coming up. The Indian T20I side is all set to travel to Zimbabwe for three T20Is between July 23 and 26. But after this tour, they will play a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka.
This series is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27. This is the first time in the last nine years that India will be visiting Sri Lanka for a Test series. Their last test tour of Sri Lanka was back in 2017.
These two teams are currently in a race for the WTC final, and this will be an important series for them. India are placed fifth with 48.15 PCT, while Sri Lanka are sixth on the table with 41.67 PCT.
India will reach Sri Lanka on August 4 for a two-match Test series
The test series between Sri Lanka and India will start on August 15 (Saturday) at Galle International Stadium. After three days, both teams will face each other for the second game on August 23 at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo.
As reported by Revsportz, India will reach Colombo, Sri Lanka, on August 4 (Tuesday). The visitors will play a four-day practice match in Colombo before heading to Galle for the first test. India have a great record in Sri Lanka. They have won the last five Tests and have not lost a series since 2008.
India had a tough last test series, where they lost to South Africa 0-2 at home. Hence, they are in desperate need of points from this series. Sri Lanka lost their last test series against West Indies and slipped to the sixth spot on the table.
This series is crucial for India and the coaching staff, who have struggled in this format for about a year. In fact, there have been questions on Gautam Gambhir and co. after the decline in performance in the white-ball format along with Tests.
