India will face South Africa in ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final.

India Women Cricket Team will lock horns with South Africa Women Cricket Team in the final of ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. The summit clash will take place on Sunday, November 2 at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.

The Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. came up with a fantastic performance in the semi-final against Australia Women to book a spot in the final. Chasing a mammoth target of 339 runs, India Women handed the Alyssa Healy-led side their first defeat of the tournament. The defending champions were unbeaten in the league stage, winning six games out of seven, while one was washed out due to rain.

With their unbeaten run, they were looking red-hot favourites to lift the trophy for the second time in a row. However, the Women in Blue stunned them by stealing a victory in the second semi-final, scripting the record for the highest successful run-chase in Women’s ODIs. Jemimah Rodrigues rocked with her match-winning performance, smacking an unbeaten 127 runs to lead the team to a memorable victory.

Notably, India Women had played two ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup finals in the past. However, they couldn’t win the summit clash. They made it to the final for the first time in the 2005 edition, facing Australia Women in the clash.

India Women, who were led by then captain Mithali Raj, lost the encounter by 98 runs. Electing to bat first, Belinda Clark-led Australia piled up 215/4 on the scoreboard, with an unbeaten century by Karen Rolton (107) and a half-century by Lisa Sthalekar (55). In the chase, India Women lost their wickets like a house of cards, getting bowled out for just 117 runs.

India’s second appearance in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup final came in the 2017 edition, when they clashed with England Women at The Lord’s. This time, it was a close-fought clash, which India lost by just nine runs.

Led by Heather Knight, England Women opted to bat first in the encounter, and piled up 228/7 with a half-century by Nat Sciver-Brunt (51). India Women made a wonderful effort with the bar, however, they could not replicate the same efforts in batting.

Opener Poonam Rawat gave a brilliant start with her 86 runs, while Harmanpreet Kaur (51) and Veda Krishnamurthy (35) made crucial contributions as India were cruising in the chase. However, Anya Shrubsole’s six-wicket haul helped England to make a comeback in the encounter. India Women faced a batting collapse in the end and were eventually bowled out for 219 runs, remaining short of victory by a close margin.

India Women will aim for their maiden ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup triumph when they take on South Africa in the summit clash of the 2025 edition on Sunday, 2nd November.
