India booked their berth in Super 8 round of T20 World Cup 2026 after their massive win over Pakistan in their third group game.
India have officially qualified for the Super 8 of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 as they beat neighbours Pakistan by 61 runs in Colombo. With three wins out of three, the Men in Blue have successfully managed to get past the first phase in their title defence.
India will conclude their Group A campaign with the match against the Netherlands on Wednesday, February 18 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The result will not have any effect on India’s position in the Super 8 stage because of the predetermined nature of the schedule.
Prior to the tournament, the ICC had already assigned seeding numbers to the teams in the initial round. Top two teams from each group will automatically qualify for the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. With one game of the Group stage remaining, here’s a look at how India’s Super 8 schedule
India’s Super 8 schedule: A look at the next stage of Team India’s title defence

India have been allocated as X1 alongside the likes of South Africa, West Indies and either Australia or Zimbabwe. This group X could potentially indicate the group of death with India as defending champions and the likes of South Africa who are touted as one of the favourites.
Two of the finalists in the last edition of the T20 World Cup along side two-time champions West Indies and potentially Australia, could make things very interesting for the fans. Surprisingly, Australia have struggled in the initial stage and are being challenged by Zimbabwe who could go ahead of the them in the Super 8.
Looking at Team India’s schedule, they will kick start their Super 8 stage with a re-match of the T20 World Cup 2024 final. They will face South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, 22 February. The Proteas have already impressed in their campaign winning all of their three matches.
Up next for India, will be a daunting task of a matchup against Australia or Zimbabwe. After Zimbabwe’s huge upset last week against the Australia, the Sikandar Raza-led side has a huge chance to qualify and will receive the X2 seed if they beat Australia to earn a qualifying spot. Chennai will host this game on February 26.
As things stand, the only other team alongside India to officially qualify to Group X of the Super 8 is West Indies. The only fixture to be confirmed is India against West Indies. This Super 8 stage match will take place on Sunday, March 1 at Eden Gardens Kolkata.
