Suryakumar Yadav will lead India in Asia Cup 2025.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, 19th August, announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. The tournament will be played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 9th to 28th September. 

Chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar and skipper Suryakumar Yadav, who will be leading India in the Asia Cup 2025, addressed the press conference at the BCCI headquarters to announce the team. 

Along with Suryakumar Yadav and Ajit Agarkar, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia was also present in the meeting. After his arrival, the selection committee were involved in a meeting and then came to the media room for the announcement.

Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, who is the number-one-ranked batter, have been picked as openers for Asia Cup 2025. The duo has done an incredible job as a pair for India in T20Is. They would be keen to continue their form and help India win the tournament. 

Shubman Gill has been included in the team as well for Asia Cup 2025. He will serve as a deputy to Suryakumar Yadav, while there was no place for Shreyas Iyer, who slammed 604 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. 

The Indian squad for Asia Cup 2025 features quite a few all-rounders in Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, and Shivam Dube. Jitesh Sharma, who played a key role in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) win, has been picked as the back-up wicket-keeper in the team. 

Jasprit Bumrah will lead India’s pace attack in Asia Cup 2025, which features Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana. The spin department includes Varun Chakravarthy and  Kuldeep Yadav. They will be complimented by all-rounder Axar Patel.

Rinku Singh and Tilak Varma retained their place in the team, while there was no place for Shreyas Iyer with selector Ajit Agarkar saying that there was no place in the team.

India will open their account in Asia Cup 2025 with the game against the UAE on 10th September. After that, they will lock horns with Pakistan on 14th September. Their last league game will be against Oman on 19th September
