India will play two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, starting 15th August.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. The two teams will lock horns in a two-match series, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27.

The SL vs IND Test series will begin on 15th August, with the second game scheduled to begin from 23rd August. India will be captained by Shubman Gill with KL Rahul being his deputy. The opener was named vice-captain ahead of the Afghanistan Test, replacing Rishabh Pant.

Rahul, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, will be the two openers, while Sai Sudharsan (subject to fitness) and Devdutt Padikkal are the other batters in the top order. Captain Gill will take the onus of batting in the middle along with keeper Pant and Dhruv Jurel, who will be the second keeper in the side.

Ravindra Jadeja makes his comeback to the Test team after missing the Afghanistan game. He will be coming back after an injury layoff and would be keen to make an impact and prove his worth in the format, which he has aced over the last decade.

Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the series while Manav Suthar has retained his place in the team after an impressive outing in Afghanistan game. Saransh Jain has earned his maiden call-up and will be there in the spin department along with Kuldeep Yadav, who recently featured in England’s domestic competition.

Auqib Nabi yet again missed out despite shining in the Ranji Trophy last season. In the pace department, India went ahead with Jasprit Bumrah, whose availability will be subject to fitness, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj and Gurnoor Brar, who stole the limelight for India A in Sri Lanka recently.
