Harmanpreet Kaur will captain India in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the India Women’s squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Saturday, May 2. Harmanpreet Kaur will captain India Women in the tournament, which will take place in England and Wales.
India Women won the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup last year and will aim for their maiden T20 World Cup title. Since Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. are the ODI World Cup champions, they will be one of the favourites to win the T20 World Cup.
The Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will commence in June and conclude in July. England Women will clash with Sri Lanka Women in the tournament opener on June 12. The summit clash will take place on July 5 at Lord’s.
The tournament will feature a battle among 12 teams for the title. They have been divided into two groups of six teams each. India, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, the Netherlands and Bangladesh have been placed in Group A. West Indies, Ireland, England, New Zealand, Scotland, and Sri Lanka are in Group B.
India Women will play their first game against Pakistan Women on June 14. They will clash with the members of their group once in the league stage, playing a total of five games.
As per the format, after the league stage, the top two teams from Groups A and B will advance to the semi-finals. The winners of the semis will clash in the final.

Meanwhile, New Zealand Women are the defending champions of the tournament, who outplayed South Africa Women in the previous edition in 2024 in Dubai.
This is the 10th edition of the tournament, which began in 2009. Australia Women have won the most number of titles (6), followed by England, West Indies, and New Zealand with one trophy each.
