India have announced their squad for the IND vs WI T20Is and Shreyas Iyer-led Indian contingent for the Asian Games is retained for the series.
The Indian Cricket Team have announced their squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against the West Indies. The Men in Blue are currently playing in the three-match series against Afghanistan, and at the end of this tournament they will head to Japan for the Asian Games.
After the Asian Games, the Shreyas Iyer-led Indian contingent will return to India for the T20I series against the West Indies. The West Indies T20Is begin on the 6th of October, that is days after the Asian Games conclude with a gold medal match.
The selection also keeps Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in India’s plans, with the teenage batter continuing to be part of the national T20I setup after his recent international call-up. However, he will still have to continue his fight for the opening slot with senior batters Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan in the side.

Shreyas Iyer, the Indian skipper, will lead the T20I side with Tilak Varma continuing as his deputy. The batting unit continues to have the same amount of flexibility and experience. However, two of the major talking points will be absence of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
The Indian squad for the West Indies T20Is resemble the squad that is part of the Asian Games. Jasprit Bumrah has been left out citing workload issues and has been replaced by Prince Yadav while Mayank Yadav came in as Harshit Rana’s replacement.
However, Hardik Pandya continues to miss the games for India, as the experienced all-rounder has then been named for the India A vs Australia A ODI series. Pandya is likely to feature in that series to get his rhythm back.

Why is Jasprit Bumrah not picked for the West Indies T20I series?
Jasprit Bumrah is unavailable for the West Indies series because the Indian management want to manage his workload.
