BCCI announces 15-men India squad for U19 Cricket World Cup 2024

Uday Saharan has been appointed as captain of the India U19 team for the World Cup.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced their 15-member U19 squad for the upcoming tri-series in South Africa and also for the big ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in South Africa earlier next year. South Africa got the chance to host the World Cup after ICC decided to scrap Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) membership. Sri Lanka was picked as hosts initially but just a few weeks away ICC shifted the event to South Africa.
The Junior selection committee picked a 15-member squad along with 3 standby players for the tri-series which begins later this month. The Junior selection committee picked Uday Saharan as the skipper of the Under-19 side. Uday Saharan is currently leading the side in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup and has played a few magnificent knocks for the team in the Under-19 campaign. Saumya Kumar Pandey has been picked as the vice-captain of the team.
4 backup and 3 standby players also picked
The selection panel has also kept 4 backup players in the squad for the upcoming tour. Digvijay Patil, Jayanth Goyat, P Vignesh, and Kiran Chormale will be the backup options. They have also picked Prem Devkar, Ansh Gosai, and Mohammed Amman as travelling standby players for the big tournament. Selectors have retained most of the players partaking in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup in Dubai. India will be travelling to South Africa after the Asia Cup.
India will be playing a tri-series against South Africa and England before the big tournament. The tri-series will kick-off on 29th December and the final will be played on 10th January. India are placed in Group A along with Bangladesh, Ireland, and the USA. The Indian campaign will begin on 20th January against Bangladesh at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein. The Under-19 World Cup will begin on 19th January and the final will be played on 11th February.
