India will take on West Indies in the two-match test series, starting 4th October.

After the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, the Indian Cricket Team will be seen in action in whites. The Shubman Gill-led side will be locking horns with the West Indies Cricket Team in a two-match series, which will be part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27.

The test series between India and the West Indies will begin five days after the final of Asia Cup 2025 on 28th September. The first test between the teams will be played on 4th October at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. The next game will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from 10th October.

The test series against West Indies will be the first for India at home in the ongoing ICC WTC edition and also the first series at home under new skipper Shubman Gill. Notably, India kicked off their ICC WTC 2025-27 campaign with a series against England in England and ended up drawing it by a margin of 2-2.

One of the interesting things to see will be the squad for the West Indies series. There is no doubt that Shubman Gill will be leading the side but it will be a tough call for the selectors to pick others as all the young guns have been performing well and have scored runs as well, especially in the ongoing India A vs Australia A series.

All the doubts are soon expected to be cleared as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be naming the squad soon. It is learned that the team will be named on the 23rd or 24th of September as the governing body will be doing the selection meeting online.

“Selection for the Indian Test team for the upcoming Test series against West Indies will be done on Sept 23 or 24… selection meeting will be online,” Saikia told reporters at the BCCI headquarters, outlining the timeline for the squad.

This will be the first time since the whitewash against New Zealand in 2024 that India will be playing a test match at home. They would be keen to win both the games and grab important WTC points. On the other hand, the West Indies have already announced their squad, which will be led by Roston Chase.
