India will be captained by Suryakumar Yadav in the T20I series against Australia.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (October 4) announced the Indian Cricket Team’s squad for the T20I series against the Australian Cricket Team. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the five-match series from October 29 to November 8.

Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Indian team in the series, with Shubman Gill as his deputy. Abhishek Sharma, who shone with the bat in Asia Cup 2025, will be opening the innings. The squad is pretty similar to what it was in Asia cup 2025. Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the series with injury and Nitish Kumar Reddy gets into the scheme of things.

Also, Washington Sundar, who was in the reserves for Asia Cup 2025, has been added into the team. The rest of the squad is unchanged. The series will also mark their preparations for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka.
