India will be back in action with the series against Afghanistan after IPL 2026.
After the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Team India are all set to begin their new cycle and a few new changes are expected in the coaching set up.
Notably, the current Indian coaching group includes batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, fast-bowling coach Morne Morkel, fielding coach T Dilip and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate. However, there is no designated spin-bowling coach in the setup at present.
The Indian bowling unit has performed well under Gautam Gambhir’s coaching setup so far. However, many have questioned the need for a spin-bowling coach after the spinners recent performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Sairaj Bahutule likely to join India as spin-bowling coach after IPL 2026
As per reports by Cricbuzz, Sairaj Bahutule may soon become part of the Indian team support staff as a spin-bowling coach. The sources close to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said discussions have already taken place with head coach Gautam Gambhir and senior board officials regarding the role.
The 53-year-old joined Punjab Kings (PBKS) before the current IPL season as part of the coaching staff. He worked closely with the team’s spin bowlers and helped improve their performances during crucial matches.
Bahutule has built a strong reputation as a spin-bowling coach over the years. Before joining PBKS, he worked with Rajasthan Royals (RR) and also spent time at the National Cricket Academy under VVS Laxman. His experience with young Indian bowlers has earned praise from many former players and coaches.
Sources believe Bahutule could join the Indian setup after completing his commitments with Punjab Kings. The franchise is unlikely to stop him because the opportunity involves the Indian national team and the BCCI.
