India to leave for Ireland for T20I series on THIS date

India will be playing two-match series against Ireland.

India are set to begin a new chapter in T20I cricket under newly-appointed captain Shreyas Iyer, with the team scheduled to play a two-match series against Ireland later this month. The matches will be held at Stormont in Belfast on June 26 and June 28.

The upcoming series will mark India’s first T20I assignment since the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Shreyas Iyer has taken over the captaincy duties, while several young players, including teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, have earned places in the squad.

The Men in Blue’s preparations for the tour have already been affected by the absence of leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who was ruled out with a persistent foot injury. The selectors have retained the core of the side as they prepare for the hectic white-ball schedule.

The Indian team is reportedly heading to Ireland on June 23 ahead of the two-match T20I series. The team will depart a day after the conclusion of the Afghanistan ODI series.

Shreyas Iyer last played a T20I in December 2023. The right-hander was appointed as the new captain of India earlier this month in place of Suryakumar Yadav. Tilak Varma is the new vice-captain.

India have some fresh faces, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is one of them who could become the youngest of the men’s team to represent India in international cricket. The 15-year-old got his first senior call-up after having a stellar IPL 2026 campaign.

After two T20Is against Ireland, India will head to England for a five-match T20I series that starts in July.

When will the India vs Ireland T20I series begin?

The two-match T20I series between India and Ireland will begin on June 26.

Who will captain India in the Ireland T20I series?

Shreyas Iyer will lead the Indian team in the series, marking his first assignment as India’s full-time T20I captain.
