India were scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Bangladesh.

Amid growing diplomatic tensions between the two nations, India have effectively cancelled its six-match white-ball series (three ODIs and three T20Is) against Bangladesh.

The Indian team is not expected to visit Bangladesh after the government instructed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) not to proceed with the tour, a senior insider told India Today.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) decision to halt the sale of its media rights was the first obvious indication that the tour would be cancelled, at least postponed. The initial plan was for the technical bidding to take place on Monday, July 7, and the financial bidding to take place on Thursday, July 10.

The BCB is still hopeful that the India series, which is a guaranteed source of revenue for any cricket board, might be postponed.

“We will continue, we will take time to research the market. There is no point in rushing things. We can give different contracts,” a BCB official told Cricbuzz.

“They have informed us that there is no India series. After announcing the tender, they did not provide the ITT. They are selling, for now, only for the Pakistan series,” an Indian broadcaster told according to the same reports.

Originally, the Invitation to Tender (ITT) was supposed to be accessible from June 15 to July 6. However, the sale of the document has now been postponed in exchange for USD 3,000.

Mood in India is not in favor of any cricketing relations with Bangladesh

The August India men’s cricket tour of Bangladesh has been postponed indefinitely. Three ODIs and three T20Is were scheduled for the series between August 17 and August 31, but things will not proceed as expected.

According to reports, given the recent tense relations between the two neighbours, the atmosphere in India is not exactly favourable for a tour of Bangladesh. Although neither side has released an official declaration, it is thought that the government has recommended that the BCCI not go ahead with the tour due to the diplomatic impasse.

“The political situation in Bangladesh is not stable, and in light of the diplomatic standoff, the Indian government has advised the BCCI not to go ahead with this tour,” the source told India Today on condition of anonymity.

A statement is expected to come jointly from the BCCI and the BCB. It’ll likely refer to the decision as a ‘postponement’, not a cancellation.
