India were scheduled to tour Bangladesh in September for three ODIs and three T20Is.
In recent times, cricketing relations between India and Bangladesh have witnessed several ups and downs. That is why India’s tour of Bangladesh may be postponed again from its scheduled time.
Initially, India were scheduled to tour Bangladesh for six limited-over games, featuring three ODIs and three T20Is, in August 2025. However, it was postponed due to political tensions and logistics-related issues. BCCI and BCB were not on the same page.
Hence, the tour was postponed to September 2026. A media report from ESPN Cricinfo confirms that the tour is likely to see another new date and might face imminent delays or even cancellation.
On Thursday (August 20), BCB head Tamim Iqbal hinted that the tour is likely to be postponed. It has certainly raised doubt over the possibility of the series, which has already been adjourned.

The BCB confirmed the tour in January, which would include three ODIs and three T20Is in Dhaka and Chattogram.
Though there has been no confirmation from the Indian board, and with only a couple of weeks left until the scheduled 1st ODI (September 3), there is a high chance the tour will be postponed yet again.
During a recent press conference, the BCB head announced an age-group tournament to be played between August 28 and September 9 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. When asked about India’s proposed tour in September, Tamim hinted at a possible delay.
He said, “Both boards remain in discussion about the India series. The dates may be shifted here or there. This tournament is being held in Mirpur, but it can be shifted to the Basundhara ground in two minutes. If the India series is locked and fixed, we will schedule it accordingly.”
Relations between the two countries soured earlier this year when the Kolkata Knight Riders released Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman ahead of IPL 2026. For this reason, the Aminul Islam-led BCB refused to tour India for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
However, the relationship improved somewhat when Tamim engaged with the BCB and terms were worked out between the two boards. It also included his visit to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru earlier this month.
