India U19 to play a tri-series in South Africa ahead of U19 World Cup

India U19 will play tri-series with Afghanistan and South Africa starting on 29th December.
India’s under-19 squad is set to play tri-series in South Africa ahead of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup starting next month. India are the defending champions of the junior World Cup as Yash Dhull-led squad won the World Cup title in West Indies two years ago. Indian Juniors will be involved in a tri-series as a preparatory series.
India’s under 19 squad will be participating in a tri-series featuring Afghanistan and South Africa under 19 teams ahead of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup which is set to begin on 19th January. India are placed in group A along with Bangladesh, United States, and Ireland. They will commence their campaign against Bangladesh in Bloemfontein.
All the three teams will be playing against each other twice in the league round and then go on to play the finals. The entire tournament will be played at Old Edwardians Cricket Club in Johannesburg.
India to play against Afghanistan and South Africa
India will commence their campaign against Afghanistan under 19 on 29th December. Their second league game will be played on 2nd January against South Arica. The final leg for India will begin on 4th January against Afghanistan under 19 and then against South Africa on 6th January. Final of the tri-series will be played on 10th January.
Indian juniors had a recent setback in the ACC Under 19 Asia Cup played in Dubai. India lost semi-final game against Bangladesh last week. Indian under 19 team will be led by Uday Saharan and Saumy Kumar Pandey is chosen as the vice-captain of the side. Prem Devkar, Ansh Gosai, and Mohammed Amaan are picked as travelling standby reserves for the tri-series.
