India vs Afghanistan T20I series 2024: India will host Afghanistan for a three-match T20I series in January.

Afghanistan have arrived in India for a three-match T20I series against India. This will be the first-ever bilateral meeting between the two sides after Afghanistan’s test debut in June 2018. This will also be the first-ever T20I series between both sides as they head to Mohali to take on each other in the first T20I game. This will be the final international assignment for Team India before the big ICC T20 World Cup in June.

India vs Afghanistan T20I battle will begin on 11th January at IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. Ajit Agarkar-led national men’s selection panel and announced a 16-member squad to take on Afghanistan, who are running in high spirits. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be marking their comeback in T20I side and this also makes their World Cup plans clear. India have only three T20Is left to finalise their best possible squad for the T20 World Cup later in June.

Familiar conditions will help Afghanistan

Afghanistan will led by Ibrahim Zadran. He was recently announced as the new T20I captain. Ibrahim Zadran led his side to a 2-1 win over UAE recently. Afghanistan have a good amount of experience playing on Indian wickets and this will help them in great amount in the upcoming series set to be played in Mohali, Indore and Bengaluru.

Team India will be monitoring a pool of players before they finalise their final squad for the T20 World Cup in West Indies and the USA. India made a few changes to their side for the upcoming tour and rested Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. These two guys have remained a certain choice with the other spots for pacers still in contention while an official update on Ravindra Jadeja’s absence is yet to come.
