The India vs New Zealand test series 2024 will be played from October 16 to November 5.

The Indian cricket team started their home test season with a thumping series victory over Bangladesh. The Asian Giants played a two-match test series against Bangladesh and whitewashed them 2-0.

After a dominant test series victory over Bangladesh, the Rohit Sharma-led side will now host New Zealand for a three-match test series. The exciting series will be played from October 16 to November 5.

The New Zealand test series will be crucial for the Indian side in order to prepare themselves for the upcoming high-voltage Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia, starting from November 22.

Talking about the New Zealand squad, the visitors will miss the services of their star batter Kane Williamson during the first test match in Bengaluru. Williamson suffered a groin strain during the second test against Sri Lanka.

The board confirmed that Williamson will need to go undergo rehabilitation before joining the squad in India. Tom Latham will lead the Black Caps for the three-match test series against India.

For India, Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the side. Speedster Jasprit Bumrah has been named as vice-captain of the side for the test series. Left-arm seamer Yash Dayal, who was part of the Bangladesh test series, has been left out of the squad.

The Indian selectors have also named four travelling reserves – Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
