Guyana will host the second and third T20Is between West Indies and India.

Team India will be looking to take revenge for the first T20I defeat against West Indies at Providence Stadium in Guyana. There’s a slight chance in the game that rain may play spoilsport for India in their campaign. West Indies won the first T20I by a close margin of 4 runs and took 1-0 lead in the 5-match T20I series. Indian batters struggled against the West Indies bowling attack and went on to lose the game by a whisker at Brian Lara Cricket Stadium in Trinidad. Both teams arrived in Guyana right after the game to play the 2nd and 3rd T20Is of the series.

Weather in Guyana is likely to remain overcast as the weather remains cloudy with a bit of rain around the South American continent. There is 50% chance of rain at Providence Stadium in Guyana. The temperature is likely to remain around 30-33 degree celsius all around the game time (10:30 AM to 01:30 PM) with humidity around 68-72% in Guyana. Temperature and the conditions suggest that there’s only a slight chance that rain might come and play a spoilsport otherwise it will be a nice time to get magnificent 40 overs of play. 

Pitch will play slow

Guyana is known for producing slow and low-scoring pitches. This once again gives West Indies bowlers an edge over struggling Indian batters. The visitors will also unleash Kuldeep, and Chahal at West Indies batters. The West Indies captain said that the outcome of the series will be decided by the way the WI bat against Indian bowlers, this statement shows a lot of confidence he got in the bowling line-up. The average first-innings total is just 146 runs at Providence Stadium. India have played only one T20I game at this venue and won the game. India played against West Indies in 2019 and won the match by 7 wickets. 

This series is important for both teams as the next ICC T20 World Cup will be held in West Indies and the USA in June next year. Team India are looking to explore options for the upcoming big event. The visitors’ side led by Hardik Pandya will be looking to find the answers and balance in the XI as youngsters have come in the bulk after the T20 WC 2022 debacle. India and West Indies will also visit the USA for the 4th and 5th T20I games in the series on the 12th and 13th of August.
