After conclusion of Men’s T20I Asia Cup, now it’s time for test cricket action as Indian Cricket Team are all set to host the West Indies Cricket Team in a two-match series. The opening game of the West Indies tour of India 2025 will begin on October 2 at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, while the second test will be played from October 10 to 14 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
India will be led by Shubman Gill and this will be the second series for him as India’s test captain after leading the team to a 2-2 draw in England. India will be without their vice-captain Rishabh Pant, who will miss the series due to the foot injury he suffered in the England tour. In his absence, Ravindra Jadeja has been appointed as the deputy to Gill, while Dhruv Jurel and N Jagadeesan are the two wicket-keepers in the squad.
Karun Nair, who made his test comeback in the England tour after a gap of eight years, was snubbed from the squad for the West Indies series. The right-handed batsman failed to score a big during the England tour, managing only 205 runs.

All-rounder Shardul Thakur was another player who was overlooked for the West Indies series. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna will lead India’s pace attack, while Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja, and KL Rahul are expected to play a crucial role with bat.
On the other hand, the West Indies will be led by Roston Chase during the series. They recently faced a 3-0 whitewash in the test series against Australia in July. Pacer Khary Pierre has earned his maiden call-up to the test side. Moreover, Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze have made a comeback to the test team.
Notably, this will be the second assignment of both the teams in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27. India currently hold the third spot in WTC 2025-27 points table with a win percentage (PCT) of 46.67. West Indies occupy sixth spot with a win percentage of 0.0.
