India defeated England in the first-ever Women’s Test match at The Lord’s.
The India Women’s Cricket Team outplayed England Women in a historic Test match on Monday, July 13. It was the first-ever Women’s test match at Lord’s, London.
Batting first, the Indian women’s team posted a total of 285/10 in the first innings, aided by half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana (83), Harmanpreet Kaur (58), and Deepti Sharma (57).
Kranti Gaud clinched a fabulous five-wicket haul in the first innings, as England were bowled out for just 170 runs. Amy Jones (52) was the only batter to hammer a fifty. Earning a 115-run lead after the 1st innings, India reached a dominant position.
Harmanpreet Kaur & Co. came up with an even better batting show in the 2nd innings, piling up 341/7 with a stunning century by Yastika Bhatia (113). Moreover, Mandhana (70) and Richa Ghosh (50*) also added crucial runs on the board.
England Women were helpless against a 457-run target in the 2nd innings, and were bowled out for just 186 runs to lose by a huge margin of 270 runs. Right-arm pacer Kranti Goud, who took a total of seven wickets in the match including a fifer, was adjudged Player of the Match.
