India Women will have a two month break before WPL 2026 begins in January.
The Indian women’s cricket team created history by winning ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 tournament that was held in India and Sri Lanka. This was India’s first Women’s World Cup win after two losses in the finals in 2005 and 2017.
India defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the final that was played at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on November 2. After losing three straight games in league stage, India faced an embarrassing league-stage elimination threat around the halfway point of the competition last month.
However, they demonstrated incredible fortitude in the face of overwhelming odds, overcoming New Zealand, the current T20 world champions, to secure the final semifinal position.
India then ended defending champions Australia’s 15-game undefeated streak in World Cups by achieving a world record chase of 338 runs in the semi-final.
India Women’s team’s schedule after the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025

After soaking in the adulations and appreciations from their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 win, the Indian Women’s World Cup-winning team players will have a decent break from the game. Some of the players will travel to Australia for the Women’s Big Bash (WBBL) League season 11, while the remaining players will continue with their rest.
Indian women have no international assignments for the next two months, and the players will regroup with their franchises as they prepare for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 tournament in January.
Their first international assignment will be a tour of Australia, which will get underway in February with a three-match T20I series, marking the beginning of India’s preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in June. This will be followed by three ODIs.
After the Australia tour, they will take another two months off before returning to England for three T20Is.
Given that it would be India’s last World Cup preparation match in England, the T20Is will be quite important. June is when the ICC tournament is supposed to start. After the World Cup, India will stay in England for a single test match at the Lord’s in July.
