Indian Women’s team stick with their core for Asian Games 2026.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian Women’s squad for the upcoming Asian Games 2026 on Tuesday, June 30. The tournament will feature a battle among the Asian cricket giants in both the men’s and women’s categories.
Harmanpreet Kaur, who recently led India in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, has been retained as the captain. Smriti Mandhana has been named as her deputy.
Although India Women could not reach the semi-finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup, many players from the squad have been picked for the Asian Games 2026.
Eight Women’s teams will fight for three medals in the Asian Games 2026. The tournament will be played from September 17 to 22 in Aichi City, Japan. All the matches will be played in the T20I format at Kōrogi Sports Park.
Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are the four teams that have directly qualified for the tournament, as they are full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
China, Malaysia, and Thailand have successfully navigated through the Qualifiers tournament, which was conducted in Malaysia. Japan, being the hosts, have earned direct entry to the Asian Games 2026.

India are the defending champions, having won the gold medal at the previous Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China.
Spinner Shreyanka Patil, who suffered a leg injury while bowling in the recent Women’s T20 World Cup, is part of the squad. However, her participation will depend on her fitness.

Meanwhile, in the previous edition of the Asian Games 2023, India Women defeated Sri Lanka in the final by 19 runs to secure the gold medal. While Sri Lanka had to settle with silver, Bangladesh Women bagged the bronze medal.
