A total of 10 Indian batsmen have hit a hundred at The Oval in London.
The Oval is one of the oldest cricket venues in England. It has hosted many memorable matches in the past. Team India also has a couple of wins at this venue.
India played their first test match at The Oval back in 1936. Since then, they have played various matches at the venue. From Vijay Merchant to Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar to Virat Kohli, most of the Indian batting stars have played a test here.

10. Anil Kumble – 110*, 2007

Another high-scoring draw at The Oval saw one of India’s former captains, Anil Kumble, who was not known for his batting skills, hit a hundred. Kumble scored his one and only test ton at this venue in 2007. In the first innings, India scored 664, which is their highest test total at The Oval.
Batting at eight, Kumble had some good partnerships with the tail. He remained unbeaten on 110 off 193 balls, with 16 fours and one six. He also took five wickets in the match and won Player of the Match award.
9. Rishabh Pant – 114, 2018

Rishabh Pant has centuries at multiple English venues, and one of them came at the Oval. It came during a test in 2018 when India were chasing a mammoth target of 464 runs. India lost their first three wickets for just two runs. That’s when Pant joined the crease and played in his aggressive way.
He scored 114 off 146 balls, with 15 fours and four sixes. This was his first test century as well. He got out when the team were at 328 runs, and India were bowled out for 345, losing the game by 118 runs.
8. Yashasvi Jaiswal – 118, 2025
Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has also hit a test ton at The Oval in London. During fifth test of India’s tour of England in 2025, Jaiswal scored a resilient hundred when India were under pressure. After being asked to bat first in the game, India managed to put 224 on the board, where Jaiswal managed to add only two runs.
After India dismissed the hosts for 247 in the first innings, facing a 23-run defecit, they went on to score over 300 in the second innings. Jaiswal, who failed in the first innings, scored 118 off 164 deliveries. His innings saw 14 boundaries and two sixes.
7. Rohit Sharma – 127, 2021

India’s second test win at The Oval came in 2021 courtesy of a splendid hundred by Rohit Sharma. This was the fourth test of India’s tour of England in 2021, and the visitors were bowled out for 191 in the first innings.
England then replied with 290 and took a lead of 99 runs. During India’s second innings, Rohit slammed 127 runs off 256 balls, with 14 fours and one six. He not only spent time at the crease, but also added the runs on the board. India scored 466 and dismissed England for 210 to win the test by 157 runs.
6. Vijay Merchant – 128, 1946
The first Indian to score a test century at The Oval was former opener Vijay Merchant. He played ten tests for India and slammed three centuries. Interestingly, all ten tests came against England. In 1946, he slammed the first ton by an Indian batter at The Oval in a drawn test. He scored 128 runs, including 12 fours and scripted history.
5. Rahul Dravid – 146*, 2011

Rahul Dravid loved playing in England and had a great record there. One of his multiple centuries on English soil in 2011 came at The Oval. England declared their first innings at 591/6, with Ian Bell (235) scoring a double hundred.
In return, India had a poor batting display. Despite wickets tumbling from the other end, Dravid kept scoring. He opened the innings and remained not out at 146 off 266 balls as India were bowled out for 300. India made 283 in the second innings and lost the game by an innings and eight runs.
4. KL Rahul – 149, 2018

KL Rahul also has a pretty good record at The Oval. His one hundred at this venue came in 2018 when India had a target of 464 to chase. Rahul opened the innings and kept India in the chase, even after his team lost the first three wickets for just two runs. He finished with 149 off 224 balls, with 20 fours and one six. India lost the game by 118 runs.
3. Ravi Shastri – 187, 1990
Ravi Shastri also scored a daddy hundred at The Oval. His century in The Oval test in 1990 helped India cross the 600-run mark in a test innings for the first time in England. Shastri slammed his hundred on day one of the game and finished with 187 off 436 balls with 23 fours. India declared at 606/9 in 173 overs. The test ended in a draw, and Shastri was adjudged Man of the Match.
2. Rahul Dravid – 217, 2002
Rahul Dravid was the second Indian batter to hit a double hundred in England. He did it in 2002 in a high-scoring draw. England posted a big total of 515 in the first innings. India replied strongly and scored 508 runs. Dravid scored 217 off 468 balls, with 28 fours, and took India near England’s total. Eventually, the game was drawn, and Dravid ended up winning Player of the Match award.
1. Sunil Gavaskar – 221, 1979
Sunil Gavaskar holds the record for highest individual score in test cricket by an Indian batter at The Oval. He slammed a game-changing double century in fourth innings of the game and stood tall between India and a defeat.
India were given a mammoth target of 438 runs to chase with a little more than two days remaining. Gavaskar stood like a rock and scored 221 runs off 443 balls, with 21 fours. Unfortunately, India missed a chance to script history and were at 429/8 when the game ended in a draw.
