Seven Indian batsmen have scored over 2000 runs in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) history.

The Indian test side has played the ICC WTC final twice, and one of the key reasons for their good record is their batting. Scoring runs has never been easy in test cricket, but several batters have aced that challenge brilliantly.
Since the start of the ICC WTC, multiple Indian batters have scored 1000 or more runs in the tournament. There have also been some who have scored more than 2000 runs. In this article, we will talk about the top five run-scorers for India in the ICC WTC history.

5. Ravindra Jadeja – 2505 runs

Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is India’s third-highest wicket-taker in the WTC history with 145 wickets. Not just his bowling, he has been a consistent performer with the bat as well. Jadeja is India’s fifth-highest run-scorer in the ICC WTC history. The all-rounder has played 46 tests and has scored 2505 runs at an average of 43+. He has scored five centuries and 17 half-centuries with a best of 175 not out.
4. Virat Kohli – 2617 runs

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli had an incredible peak in his test career, but the last few years didn’t produce much for him, and he decided to hang up his boots in 2025. In the ICC WTC, he played 46 tests and finished with 2617 runs at an average of 35.36, with a best of 254 not out. Virat had five centuries and 11 half-centuries as well.
3. Rohit Sharma – 2716 runs

Rohit Sharma shocked everyone when he announced his test retirement ahead of India’s tour of England in 2025. Though his form wasn’t good in the last year of his test career, but he was India’s best opener in the ICC WTC history at his time. Rohit played 40 tests in the WTC and scored 2716 runs at an average of 41.15, with 212 as his best. He also slammed nine centuries and eight half-centuries.
2. Rishabh Pant – 2731 runs

Rishabh Pant has been India’s best batter in test cricket since his debut. Despite him missing out on the action for more than one year due to a car accident, he is India’s second-highest run-scorer in the ICC WTC history. Pant has scored 2731 runs in 38 tests at an average of 43.34 with six centuries and 16 half-centuries.
1. Shubman Gill – 2826 runs

The new Indian test captain, Shubman Gill, has been with the Indian side for a while now, and he will have the responsibility to lead the batting from the front in the coming years. He made his debut during the inaugural ICC WTC cycle. Gill has the most centuries (10) for India in the ICC WTC history. Overall, he has batted in 39 ICC WTC games, scoring 2826 runs at an average of 43.47, with a best of 269, and eight half-centuries.
