Top 5 Indian bowlers fastest to 200 wickets in ODI cricket

Anil Kumble is the most successful Indian bowler in ODI cricket.

India stand as one of the strongest teams in world cricket. While they haven’t won a 50-over ICC tournament in nearly 12 years, their performance in bilateral series has been outstanding. They’ve reached the semi-finals of every 50-over ICC event since the 2011 Cricket World Cup.

When Indian cricket is discussed, the focus usually falls on the world-class batsmen like Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. However, what often gets overlooked are the valuable contributions from India’s bowlers in limited-overs cricket.

On that note, let’s take a look at the top five Indian bowlers fastest to 200 wickets in ODI cricket.

Javagal Srinath’s emergence for India in international cricket marked the beginning of India’s next generation of pace bowling after Kapil Dev.

The Karnataka pacer registered his 200th ODI wicket in his 147th bowling innings. He retired in 2003 with 315 ODI wickets across 229 games at an average of 28 and an economy rate of 4.44.

Unfortunately, Kumble couldn’t win a ICC Cricket World Cup in his career.

Left arm speedster Zaheer Khan reached the tally of 200 ODI wickets in the 144th bowling innings of his career.

Khan played a key role in India’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2011-winning campaign, leading the wicket-takers chart with 21 wickets in nine games at an average of 18.

He last represented India in an international game in 2014 against New Zealand in Wellington in test cricket.

2. Ajit Agarkar – 133 innings

Former Indian speedster Ajit Agarkar reached the 200-wicket milestone in his 133rd ODI innings.
