Three Indian pacers have wickets on the first ball of a T20I match.
The Indian Cricket Team have won the ICC T20 World Cup thrice, in 2007, 2024 and 2026; under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, respectively. The Men in Blue are the only team to win this title thrice so far.
India have produced few of the finest T20I players. Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan have been among the Indian batsmen who ruled the No.1 T20I batter rankings.
Moreover, India’s bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakravarthy have topped the T20I bowling charts at different stages. Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh have been other frontline pacers for the team for years now.
Indian bowlers have set many records in T20Is in the past. Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel are the Indian bowlers with more than 100 T20I wickets to their name.
Indian Bowlers to pick wicket in 1st Ball of the T20I Match
Three Indian pacers have picked a wicket on the first ball of a T20I match. Arshdeep Singh was the first one to do so, in 2024. He got Shayan Jehangir out on the first ball of the group stage match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Shortly after, Hardik Pandya joined the list with the wicket of Saim Ayub. It was the group stage match of the Asia Cup 2025 when Hardik dismissed Ayub on the first legal delivery of the match.
On July 23, Mayank Yadav has joined this list with the wicket of Brian Bennett in the 1st ZIM vs IND T20I. Yadav was returning to the Indian setup after almost two years, and he claimed a wicket on his comeback delivery.
