Indian Cricket Team playing 11 for Asia Cup 2025 - Predicted

Indian Cricket Team will play their first game of Asia Cup 2025 against the UAE on September 10.

The much-awaited announcement has been made, and the Indian selection committee has revealed the Indian squad that will defend the title in Asia Cup 2025. Shubman Gill is back in T20Is and will be the deputy for captain Suryakumar Yadav.

India are part of Group A with Pakistan, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They will be facing the UAE in their first game on September 10, followed by matches against Pakistan and Oman on September 14 and 19, respectively.

India have picked up the team on the basis of the pitches and the players, who have been playing well in the last year or so. However, the first challenge will be picking the playing XI. Hence, we will discuss here the possible XI for India for Asia Cup 2025.

Indian Cricket Team playing 11 for Asia Cup 2025 – Predicted

1. Sanju Samson (Wk)

After getting ignored for many years, Sanju Samson seems to have settled down in the T20I side as an opener. He has slammed three T20I centuries since he was given a chance at the top. His wicket-keeping skills and form in T20Is have helped him get a chance, and he is likely to be the first-choice opener and keeper for Asia Cup 2025.

2. Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma has become a six-hitting machine for India in T20Is. The current No. 1 ranked T20I batter gives the team flying starts, and he has been successful in doing so. He slammed a record century in the last T20I for India and complimented Samson well at the top. Abhishek will also give the right-hand and left-hand combination at the top. Not to forget, he is an excellent hitter of spin bowling.

3. Shubman Gill

With Shubman Gill getting into the team as vice-captain, it is quite clear that he will be drafted into the playing XI. India might not change their successful opening combination, which will leave Gill to bat at No. 3. That will force the team management to bench Tilak Varma, who has been in a phenomenal form in the shortest format of the game.

However, Gill is also in an exceptional form, and his form in IPL 2025 was also tremendous. It would be great to have him go in Asia Cup 2025.

4. Suryakumar Yadav (c)

Suryakumar Yadav will be the first name on the playing XI sheet for India. He is India’s best T20I batter and the most experienced one. His presence in the middle gives great stability to the team. His exclusive hitting and innovative shots make him a difficult batter to bowl at. He can also tackle spin-bowling pretty well in the middle overs.

5. Rinku Singh

Despite an average IPL 2025 season, Rinku Singh has successfully retained his place in the T20I side, which shows the trust this management has in him. He will be India’s designated finisher and has played some really good knocks at No. 5. The left-hander will be very good against spin and will be a key player in this lineup.

6. Shivam Dube / Axar Patel

India will have some tough questions to solve. One of them is who will be at No. 6. Shivam Dube has been brutal with his game against spin, but then India would want a spin-bowling all-round option suitable for the pitches in the UAE.

Dube gives an additional option of medium pace, but Axar Patel is a proven all-rounder. His improved batting has also benefited India in recent times. So, there will be a toss-up between the two all-rounders.

7. Hardik Pandya

India’s MVP in T20Is, Hardik Pandya, is likely to be doing the finishing job. His vast experience and ability to win matches under pressure will surely be important for India going forward into Asia Cup 2025. He will also have an important role as a seamer, and his form will be important for India.

8. Kuldeep Yadav

With the matches being played in the UAE, where pitches assist spinners very well, Kuldeep Yadav will be India’s go-to bowler. He is someone who can spin the ball on any pitches, and when the conditions are in his favour, he can be lethal. Kuldeep didn’t get a game in England, but in T20Is, he will be in action straight away.

9. Varun Chakravarthy

Since his return in T20Is, Varun Chakravarthy has taken 31 wickets in just 12 matches, including two five-wicket hauls. The current No. 4 ranked T20I bowler has become India’s leader in the spin department. He has added a few more tricks to his arsenal, which has made him a difficult bowler to face. Varun was the joint-highest wicket-taker for India in ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on these pitches, and India will want him to make a similar impact in Asia Cup 2025 as well.

10. Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh has become a vital player for India in T20Is. His pinpoint yorkers, swing, and ability to bowl in the death overs make him a complete T20I package. He is also just one wicket away from becoming the first Indian bowler with 100 T20I wickets and will look to do it in his first spell of Asia Cup 2025.

11. Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is arguably the best all-format bowler at the moment, and his presence in Asia Cup 2025 will skyrocket the broadcasting value of the tournament as well. The Player of the Tournament in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is expected to deliver another masterclass throughout the tournament, and it won’t be a surprise if he ends as India’s best player in the tournament.
