Indian Cricket Team are playing an intra-squad match ahead of the first test against England.

Ahead of the four-day intra-squad warm-up match between India and India A, the Indian cricket team’s players conducted a minute’s silence in remembrance of the Ahmedabad plane tragedy.

Shortly after taking off Thursday afternoon from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner (AI171) carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members crashed into a medical college complex. Only one of the 242 passengers survived the disaster, and the other 241 perished.

Prior to the first test at Headingly on June 20, Indian Cricket Team, who are presently in England for a five-match test series, took part in the sole simulated match.

Indian squad wears black armbands; keep a one-minute silence for the Ahmedabad airplane crash victims

To honor the victims of a plane disaster, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a few images on X of players wearing black armbands and keeping a silent stance.

“The players and members of the support staff involved in the intra-squad game in Beckenham are wearing black armbands. A minute’s silence was also observed today to pay homage to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash, as a mark of respect for the lives lost and solidarity with the affected families,” the BCCI captioned the post.
