Indian Cricket Team hopefuls denied call-ups due to off-field issues - Reports

Some of these players are in contention for Indian T20I team for West Indies tour.
The India Test and ODI squads for the upcoming tour of West Indies were announced recently and while it saw the new names of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad being given a chance, many felt that some other stars who have done well in domestic and IPL cricket were ignored.
Form, performance, and fitness are the main considerations for the selection committee while choosing the players. However, in instances of major and persistent transgressions, off-field issues like code of conduct violations come into play.
Now Cricbuzz has reported that at least four players from the teams from North in IPL, who had done well in the recent edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) missed out on being picked for the Indian team due to behavior issues and code of conduct breaches against their names.
Decision-makers within the BCCI acknowledge that these breaches have not gone unnoticed. It is worth noting that outside of the IPL, these players represent the West and North Zones in the domestic circuit.
I was deeply upset and immediately reported the matter to the BCCI: IPL franchise owner about the players’ breach of the code of conduct
It was revealed by the owner of an IPL franchise based in the North India that a few of his players had been implicated in several infractions of the IPL player code. As a result, he was forced to inform the BCCI of the situation. In fact, he said that during the just-completed IPL season, four of his players were caught breaking the rules.
After each game, the BCCI receives a report from the Integrity Officers assigned to each franchise regarding the behavior of Indian players. Both of the young, very accomplished domestic cricket players in this particular North franchise had to be reported to the BCCI.
"When I became aware of the situation, I was deeply upset and immediately reported the matter to the BCCI. The Integrity Officer also took the breach very seriously and fulfilled his obligations," the owner of the team shared with Cricbuzz.
A former anti-corruption official confirmed that the Integrity Officer provides the BCCI with a report on the behavior of Indian players following each match. However, rather than corruption-related issues, the alleged breaches mostly involved disciplinary matters and curfew violations.
It's worth noting that some of the players reported to the BCCI are either part of India's Twenty20 squad or in contention for selection.
