Indian Cricket Team will have more than 30 days of rest after the end of the England tour.
The Indian Cricket Team, after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 win, had a long break in international cricket thanks to Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Men in Blue then toured England for a five-match test series. This also meant the start of India’s ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.
This England test series was important for India as three veteran players had called time on their careers, with Ravichandran Ashwin retiring from international cricket on the Australia tour. Then, days before India’s squad for the England tour was to be announced, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirements from tests.
This meant that Shubman Gill was named the new India test captain, and he had a tough first assignment. He started off poorly as India lost at Headingly, but then created history by winning the maiden test at Edgbaston. Though India lost the Lord’s test, they fought hard to draw the Manchester game and came back from behind to win the final test at the Oval to draw the series 2-2.
When will the Indian Cricket Team play their next international cricket match?

The Indian Cricket Team was supposed to tour Bangladesh in August for a white-ball tour of three ODIs and three T20Is. But, due to simmering political tensions between the two countries, the tour has been postponed to 2026. This means the Indian Cricket Team will have a long break for the entire month of August and more.
The next international assignment for the Indian Cricket Team will now be Asia Cup 2025, to be played in T20I format and with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the venue.
On September 10, India will play their first Asia Cup encounter against the UAE. On September 14, they will play Pakistan. For Asia Cup 2025, which will be contested in T20I format, the majority of the players participating in the England tour are anticipated to be rested.
