Indian Cricket Team strongest playing 11 for test series against West Indies

Indian Cricket Team will play two test matches against the West Indies in October.

Indian Cricket Team are ready for the next test assignment as they will host the West Indies Cricket Team for two tests between October 2 and 14. These matches will be held in Ahmedabad and Delhi, and this will be the first time that Shubman Gill will lead the team on home soil.

Rishabh Pant is not available as he is still recovering from his foot injury, and some faces that played in England have been dropped. However, India have picked a balanced team, which has a spin-heavy bowling unit for the Indian pitches.

After doing well in England, Gill and Co. will be confident and will look to win both games. For that, they need a strong playing XI. Here we will talk about the best possible XI of India for the tests against the West Indies.

Indian Cricket Team’s predicted playing 11 for test series against West Indies

1. Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently the highest-ranked Indian batter in tests and had a great first tour of England. He started the five-match test series in England with a century and ended with a century, finishing with 411 runs at an average of 41.1. Jaiswal has enjoyed batting in India and also against the West Indies; he will be the first-choice opener.

2. KL Rahul

Rohit Sharma’s retirement has confirmed KL Rahul’s position in the team, and just like the last series, he will be opening for India. Rahul has cashed in on the few recent opportunities he has gotten as an opener and will be looking to carry on his good form in the upcoming series.

3. Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan didn’t have a great tour of England, where he finished with 140 runs in three tests. But, the selection committee has kept the faith in him and has given him another go. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has said that they will look to give him a long run. That clarifies that he will bat at No. 3 for India.

4. Shubman Gill (c)

A record-breaking debut series as captain has skyrocketed Shubman Gill’s stock in test cricket. He entered the series with ordinary batting stats, but a series with 754 runs and four centuries has made him the next batting superstar in tests. The captain will be back at his usual position at four.

5. Devdutt Padikkal

After doing an impressive job at the domestic level, Devdutt Padikkal has been rewarded with a test comeback in the Indian test side. Having played two tests so far, Padikkal has 90 runs in total. But his recent form is one thing to notice. He scored 150 against Australia A in the first unofficial test. With no Pant in the middle-order, Padikkal is likely to bat at No. 5.

6. Dhruv Jurel (Wk)

Dhurv Jurel has been India’s backup keeper in tests and has played a handful of games. But now, he is likely to get two consecutive tests in the absence of Rishabh Pant. Jurel has been pretty good with gloves and bat, and he will be batting at six.

7. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja has been named as vice-captain for the IND vs WI series. The all-rounder had a fantastic England series, and he finished with 516 runs with one hundred and five half-centuries. The number one ranked all-rounder will be among the first-choice players on the playing sheet, and his all-round ability will be key for India.

8. Washington Sundar

Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement has opened doors for Washington Sundar in tests. He delivered some amazing performances in England recently and showed how good he can be if trusted. With the pitches in India being spin-friendly, Sundar will be one of India’s all-rounders in the playing XI.

9. Axar Patel

India are expected to go with a spin-heavy bowling attack, which will see Axar Patel making it into the playing XI. Though India can also opt for Kuldeep Yadav, Axar’s batting ability gives him a nod ahead. Axar has been pretty good in tests, and his presence in the team gives depth to the batting unit.

10. Jasprit Bumrah

With Agarkar confirming Jasprit Bumrah’s availablity for both tests, he is expected to feature in India’s playing XI for the first game. Bumrah has been India’s first-choice pacer across formats (if available), and his presence will surely be a big threat for West Indies as well.

11. Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj’s lionhearted effort helped India draw the test series in England. He finished with the most wickets in the series and delivered some exceptional bowling spells. Siraj has been bowling well and will be the second seamer for India in the test series.
