List of Indian cricketers to make test debut in 2024
As many as seven Indian cricketers made their test debut in 2024.
The year 2024 has been a roller-coaster ride for the Indian cricket team in test cricket. Starting the year with an emphatic away test match win in Cape Town, India maintained their impressive form with home test series victories against England and Bangladesh.
However, India’s fortunes then took a drastic dip as they suffered a 0-3 whitewash in a home test series against New Zealand. The humiliating loss not only hampered India’s World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final qualifying chances, but also brought an end to their remarkable streak of 18 consecutive home test series wins.
With old guards Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane moving out of the test setup and Mohammed Shami sidelined due to a year-long injury, the Indian cricket team have tried several new faces to find in the longest format of the game this year.
In this article, we will take a look at the Indian cricketers who made their test debut in 2024.
List of Indian cricketers to make test debut in 2024:
1. Rajat Patidar
Rajat Patidar was called into the Indian test team as a replacement for Virat Kohli for the home test series against England.
Making his debut in the second test, Patidar scored 32 and 9 in the two innings. The right-hander failed to stamp his authority in the middle-order in the series, scoring just 63 runs in six innings with an average of 10.5.
Patidar has not played for India after the England series.

Showcasing his impressive stroke-making capability, Sarfaraz impressed with a quickfire knock of 62, followed by an unbeaten 68 in his debut game, living up to his reputation as one of the best Indian cricketers in domestic cricket in the last few years.
Sarfaraz’s maiden test century came during the first test of New Zealand’s tour of India in Bengaluru where he led India’s second innings fightback, scoring 150 off 195, but his knock went in vain as India lost the match by eight wickets.

Nitish scored 90 runs in three T20I games against Bangladesh at a blistering strike of 180 and also picked up three wickets.
