Cricket is a stat-driven sport and thousands of stats are recorded in all three formats of the game. Over the years, many incredible moments have been captured in this sport. And hitting 6 sixes in one over is certainly one of them. In the history of the game, there have only been a limited number of incidents when a batter smashed six sixes off six deliveries.

West Indies great Gary Sobers was the first batter to achieve this rare milestone in competitive cricket when he smashed Glamorgan’s Malcolm Nash for six sixes in the County Championship for Nottinghamshire in 1968. Notably, there are four Indian players as well who have achieved this feat in professional competitive cricket. In this article, we will talk about four Indians who hit six sixes in one over.

Here are 4 Indian cricketers to hit 6 sixes in an over

1. Ravi Shastri

Former Indian captain & coach Ravi Shastri was the first Indian batter to smash six sixes in an over. Though he didn’t do it at the international level, he achieved this feat in the Ranji Trophy 1985 against Baroda. Ravi was representing Bombay (now Mumbai). He smashed spinner Tilak Raj for six sixes in an over and became only the second batter to do so. During his innings, he smashed a 123-ball double hundred, which was then the fastest double ton in First Class (FC) cricket.

2. Yuvraj Singh

Who can forget the carnage Yuvraj Singh brought during a game against England in ICC T20 World Cup 2007. Yuvraj hit a 12-ball fifty, which is still the second-fastest overall in T20Is. During his innings, he smashed Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over after a heated exchange with Andrew Flintoff, which charged him up. Yuvraj finished at 58 off 16, and India won that game by 18 runs. That innings helped India in a must-win game and they ended up winning the tournament.

3. Ruturaj Gaikwad

Hitting six sixes is very rare, but to hit seven in a one-over is the rarest occurrence. Indian star batting prospect Ruturaj Gaikwad did it while leading Maharashtra in a Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 game against Uttar Pradesh. He did it against spinner Shiva Singh during the 49th over and smashed seven sixes (one came off a no-ball). Gaikwad collected 43 runs and equaled the world record in List A cricket for most runs in a single over. He ended up scoring 220 off 159 balls, with 16 sixes and 10 fours.

4. Vamshhi Krrishna:

The latest Indian batter to hit six sixes in an over is Andhra Pradesh’s U23 cricketer, Vamshhi Krrishna. He achieved this feat it in the Col. CK Nayudu Trophy 2023-24 game against Railways at YS Raja Reddy ACP Cricket Stadium. He tore apart Railways spinner Damandeep Singh. Krrishna scored 36 runs in an over and finished at 110 off 64 balls. His assault helped his team reach 378 in the game, but Railways replied with 865/9 and the game ended in draw.
