The BCCI confirmed that India’s home season will comprise 22 matches played across 17 cities.

Indian cricket is set for a hectic 2026-27 international season, with the men’s team scheduled to play across all three formats.

The calendar features a large number of bilateral contests against several top nations, giving the Indian management suitable opportunities to test their squad depth and prepare for future important assignments.

The schedule begins with a short T20I assignment before moving into a demanding home stretch. India will then face the West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka across different formats before kickstarting 2027 with the Zimbabwe series. The season will eventually culminate in a major five-Test battle against the Aussies.

With multiple formats and different opponents, the period will be significant for India‘s transition across formats and for players looking to cement their place in the Indian squad. The packed calendar also demands careful workload management of several players and frequent squad rotations.

India start with the three T20I matches against Afghanistan in Delhi. All three games will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on September 13, 15 and 17. However, India’s home season begins with the West Indies series that starts on September 27.

The visitors will play three ODIs followed by five T20Is with matches spread across Trivandrum, Guwahati, New Chandigarh, Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. This is a unique approach adopted by the BCCI, as the eight matches will be held in eight different cities across the country.

India then travel to New Zealand for a 12-match assignment comprising five T20Is, five ODIs and two Test matches. The T20I leg begins on October 22 in Christchurch, followed by matches in Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton.

After the T20I series ends on November 1st, the ODI series starts immediately on November 4 and is scheduled to be played in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton and Tauranga, respectively.

The two Test matches run between November 19 and 23 and November 27 to 1st December, in Wellington and Christchurch, respectively.

The action then returns to India in December when Sri Lanka arrive for three ODIs and three T20Is. After that, Zimbabwe will tour for three ODIs in January 2027; subsequently, Australia will arrive for a five-match series known as the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
