India will play their first game of Asia Cup 2025 against the UAE.

The Indian Cricket Team are set to defend their title in Asia Cup 2025, which will begin on 9th September. With the tournament around the corner, it is learned, as per the reports in PTI, that Indian players will reach Dubai on September 4 and will commence their practice from September 5.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side is placed in Group A in the tournament, alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Oman. Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong are placed in Group B.

The upcoming edition of the Asia Cup will commence on September 9 across two venues in the UAE – Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai and Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The final will take place in Dubai on September 28.

India squad to assemble in Dubai on September 4 for Asia Cup 2025

While speaking to PTI, an official of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed that Indian players will reach Dubai by September 4. He also revealed that players will fly to Dubai from their respective cities.

“All the players will arrive in Dubai by September 4 evening and the first nets session will be held on September 5 at the ICC Academy. Factoring in the logistical convenience, the players will be allowed to fly in to Dubai from their respective cities,” he said.

“Obviously, a few will travel from Mumbai but to ask some of the others to first come to Mumbai and then fly to Dubai doesn’t make sense. In any case, Dubai is a short duration flight compared to other international flights,” he added.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side will play their first game of the tournament against the UAE on September 10 in Dubai. Later, they will clash with arch-rivals Pakistan on September 14 at the same venue. Their last group match is against Oman on September 19.

Shubman Gill has returned to the T20I team and has been named as vice-captain for Asia Cup 2025. Some of the squad members are currently busy in the Duleep Trophy 2025-26. However, they will only play in the opening round of the tournament before travelling to Dubai for Asia Cup 2025.
