5. Piyush Chawla – 10/208 for Somerset
Piyush Chawla was the first name on this list after Kuldeep’s recent achievement, having picked up a 10-wicket match haul for Somerset in the 2013 County Championship.
Chawla played against Derbyshire at Taunton and finished with match figures of 10/208. He took five wickets in both innings, returning figures of 5/111 and 5/97.
4. Kuldeep Yadav – 10/120 for Yorkshire
Kuldeep Yadav‘s latest performance put him among the Indian bowlers to have taken 10 wickets in a County Championship match.
Against Essex at Leeds, he claimed four wickets in the first innings. Kuldeep then produced a sensational spell in the second innings, taking 6/50. His overall figures of 10/120 helped Yorkshire seal a dominant innings and a 106-run win.
3. Zaheer Khan – 11/260 for Worcestershire
The former India, Zaheer Khan, pacer produced his 10-wicket match haul while playing for Worcestershire against Essex at Chelmsford in 2006. He was almost unstoppable in the first innings, taking 9/138.
Zaheer added two more wickets in the second innings to finish with match figures of 11/260. Worcestershire went on to win the game by nine wickets.
2. Ravichandran Ashwin – 12/144 for Nottinghamshire
Ravichandran Ashwin also delivered a memorable County Championship performance during his time with Nottinghamshire in 2019.
Playing against Surrey, Ashwin picked up six wickets in each innings. He returned figures of 6/69 in the first innings before taking 6/75 in the second.
1. Javagal Srinath – 13/150 for Gloucestershire
Javagal Srinath remains at the top of this list with the best match figures among Indian bowlers in the County Championship.
Representing Gloucestershire against Glamorgan in 1995, Srinath picked up 13/150 in a match that ended in a draw. He took four wickets for 74 runs in the first innings before producing a brilliant second-innings spell of 9/76. Those figures are also Srinath’s best innings figures in first-class cricket.
