India's tour of West Indies 2023
India's probable playing XI for second test vs West Indies

India defeated West Indies by a huge margin of an innings and 141 runs in the first test at Dominica.
India kick-started their ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 campaign with a convincing three-day victory over West Indies, earning a valuable 12 points and taking a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series. Despite winning the toss, West Indies' reckless approach led to a modest first-innings total of 150, while India capitalized with Yashasvi Jaiswal's composed 171, Rohit Sharma's century, and Virat Kohli's 76, enabling them to declare at an imposing 421 for 5, setting a lead of 271 runs.
As the match progressed, the deteriorating pitch played into the hands of Ravi Ashwin, who claimed seven wickets in West Indies' second innings. The pitch's challenging turn, bounce, and uneven behavior proved too much for the hosts, and the match couldn't extend to the fourth day. West Indies were bowled out for 130, granting India a resounding victory by an innings and 141 runs, showcasing their dominant performance.
The second test will take place at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, starting on 20th July. India will be eager to secure a series clean-sweep. While the visitors are expected to field the same winning combination, it will be interesting to see if Ruturaj Gaikwad or Mukesh Kumar earn their maiden test caps.
India’s predicted Test XI for the Second Test:
1. Rohit Sharma (C):

In the first test match, captain Rohit Sharma showcased his brilliance by scoring his 10th century in Test Cricket, scoring a well-earned 103 runs in the 1st innings. With his remarkable form, Rohit will be eager to continue his excellent performance alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the upcoming 2nd test.
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal:

Yashasvi Jaiswal, who made his debut in the first test, enjoyed an extraordinary beginning to his test career. His magnificent performance saw him score an impressive 171 runs in the 1st innings, making him the 17th Indian to achieve a century in a debut test match. What's even more remarkable is that he became the 3rd Indian to score 150 runs in their Test debut and etched his name in history as the 1st Indian to achieve this feat in an overseas test. His debut innings has laid a promising foundation for his cricketing journey at the highest level, and now, all eyes are on him as he carries this brilliant form into the 2nd test.
3. Shubman Gill:

Settling-in in a new position at number three in Test cricket, Shubman Gill couldn't fully capitalize on the opportunity. Unfortunately, he faced only 11 deliveries before becoming a victim to spinner Jomel Warrican, managing to score just 6 runs. It wasn't the performance Shubman Gill desired, but he will surely be eager to showcase his true potential and play a significant innings in the upcoming 2nd test.
4. Virat Kohli:

Virat Kohli demonstrated his good form by scoring 76 runs in the first test, which turned out to be his 29th half-century in the longest form of cricket. With his impressive performance, he will undoubtedly be keen to capitalize on his momentum and aim to reach the coveted three-digit mark as in the 2nd test backed by the batting coach Vikram Rathour.
5. Ajinkya Rahane:

After making a strong comeback in the World Test Championship Final 2023 and earning the vice-captaincy, Rahane faced disappointment in the opening Test against West Indies. He scored only 3 runs off 11 balls before being dismissed by Kemar Roach in the first innings. However, Rahane will be determined to bounce back and will be focused on achieving a big score in the 2nd test match.
6. Ravindra Jadeja:

In the 1st test, Ravindra Jadeja had an impressive performance. He took 3 wickets in the 1st innings and added 2 more in the 2nd innings. Additionally, he contributed with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 37* in the 1st innings. He will be looking to carry forward this excellent form with both bat and ball into the upcoming matches.
7. Ishan Kishan (WK):

Ishan Kishan had a promising debut test match as a keeper, showing great confidence behind the stumps. Unfortunately, he didn't get much of an opportunity with the bat, as Rohit Sharma declared the innings just after Ishan scored 1 run. However, with the 2nd test on the horizon, it will be intriguing to see how Ishan performs and showcases his batting skills.
8. Ravichandran Ashwin:

Ashwin showcased his brilliance by overpowering the West Indies. He claimed five wickets in the first innings and an impressive seven-wicket haul in the second, resulting in an outstanding combined figure of 12/131. Notably, he became only the 3rd Indian to achieve 700 international wickets. With such remarkable form, Ashwin is undoubtedly determined to carry forward his dominance in the 2nd test.
9. Shardul Thakur:

Shardul had a limited role in the whole test, bowling just 7 overs and taking 1 wicket. The dominance of Ashwin and Jadeja meant he wasn't required as much in the bowling department. However, it will be intriguing to see how his role unfolds in the 2nd test match.
10. Jaydev Unadkat:

Similar to Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat had a limited role in the entire test match, bowling only 9 overs and not having much impact on the game. However, if the pitch for the 2nd test is more favorable to fast bowlers, Unadkat's role could become more crucial.
11. Mohammed Siraj:

With Shami rested for this series, Siraj was the leading fast bowler in the test match, taking 1 wicket in each innings. However, the spinners dominated the proceedings, making his role less prominent. Nevertheless, Siraj will be set to lead the fast bowling attack once again in the 2nd test.
