India’s tour of Sri Lanka 2024 will be played from July 27 to August 7.

After lifting the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in June, the young Indian cricket team toured Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series, where they won the series 4-1 in July. India’s next assignment after Zimbabwe tour will be a white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, where they will play three T20Is and as many ODIs.

On July 19, 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced squads for the upcoming white-ball tour against Sri Lanka.

The selection committee named Suryakumar Yadav as the T20I skipper, whereas Rohit Sharma will lead the Men in Blue in the three-match ODI series. Surprisingly, the BCCI selectors have named opener Shubman Gill as vice-captain of both the squads.

The upcoming Sri Lanka tour will also start a new era of Indian cricket under newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir.

On Monday, July 23, Sri Lanka named their T20I squad for the series, which sees Charith Asalanka being appointed as new captain of the Island Nation’s T20I side following resignation of Wanindu Hasaranga. It will be a new era for Sri Lankan side as well in T20Is.

In India’s tour of Sri Lanka 2024, both the sides will play three T20Is followed by three ODIs. The entire T20I series will be played in Pallekele, while the entire ODI series will be played at Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium.
