India’s tour of Zimbabwe 2024 will be played from July 6 to July 14.

After winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, Indian Cricket Team‘s next assignment will be a five-match T20I series, which they will play against Zimbabwe. The five-match T20I series will begin on July 6 and conclude on July 14. With few of the seniors retired after the T20 World Cup and other being rested, India will tour Zimbabwe with many fresh new faces and a young squad.

On June 24, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the young 15-member squad for the Zimbabwe series. Star opener Shubman Gill was named as the captain of the young Men in Blue squad.

Young cricketers Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel earned their maiden call-up for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. The BCCI awarded all these players on the basis of their superb performances in the Indian Premier League 2024.

Sadly, star all-rounder Nitish Reddy, who earned his maiden T20I call-up, was ruled out of the upcoming T20I series due to an injury. The selection committee then named T20 World Cup 2024-winning player Shivam Dube as Nitish’s replacement.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has also added Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma, and Harshit Rana, who replaced Shivam Dube, Sanju Samson, and Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first two T20Is.

Jaiswal, Samson and Dube were replaced because they were struck with the Indian cricket team in Barbados due to Hurricane Beryl, and all three were stranded there along with the rest of the T20 World Cup 2024 winning players.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe’s cricketing body, Zimbabwe Cricket named its 17-man squad for the T20I series against Indian cricket team on July 2. Veteran all-rounder Sikandar Raza will captained the young side. Surprisingly, the cricket board has excluded the experienced duo of Craig Ervine and Sean Williams.
