5 instances when batsmen got run-out in 90s in IPL

Several batsmen have been unlucky and got run-out just ahead of their centuries in the IPL.
Smacking a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a big achievement for any batsman. Due to less overs, reaching the three-digit mark is quite a challenging task in the IPL. However, there have been many instances when batsmen became victims of nervous nineties and lost their wickets just ahead of centuries.
There are also have been some rare instances when batters faced unlucky run-outs while batting in the nineties. Overall, there have been five such instances and below we take a look at each of them.
Instances when batsmen bagged unlucky run-outs in 90s
1. 92 runs – Manvinder Bisla v CSK (2013)
The very first instance of a batsman losing his wicket through a run-out while batting in the nineties came in the 2013 edition. Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders against Chennai Super Kings, Maninder Bisla got run-out at 92 runs. He was dismissed by Michael Hussey in the second innings.
2. 99 runs – Virat Kohli v DD (2013)

During a clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in IPL 2013, Virat Kohli bagged an unlucky run-out at 99 runs. Captain Kohli led from the front in the first innings, but suffered a run-out by Ben Rohrer just one run short of his century.
3. 96 runs – Chris Gayle v KKR (2015)

Chris Gayle represented RCB in the 2015 edition. In a clash against KKR, Gayle scored 96 runs off 56 balls before losing his wicket through a run-out. RCB were chasing a 178-run target in the match and Gayle took the responsibility of the chase, leading the team to victory by three wickets. However, he was dismissed through a run-out by Manish Pandey just ahead of his ton.
4. 90 runs – Mitchell Marsh v CSK (2026)

LSG opener Mitchell Marsh rocked the field in the second clash against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. Chasing 188 for victory, Marsh scored 90 runs off 38 deliveries before losing his wicket through a run-out at non strikers end. He could not reach the three-digit mark but was adjudged Player of the Match for his batting heroics in LSG’s victory.
5. 96 runs – Mitchell Marsh v RR (2026)
Marsh bagged another run-out while batting in the nineties in IPL 2026, this time against Rajasthan Royals. Batting first, the right-handed batsman hammered RR bowlers all over the park. While sneaking two runs in the final over of 1st innings, he lost his wicket through a run-out by Yashasvi Jaiswal.
